Our Elementary School is Opening - 2013!

We are so excited to begin yet another new journey with our children.  

Come 2013, KinderKare Elementary School will open, with just our P.1 children.

We can't wait to set that exciting ball rolling!

Our Parents' Training

Our parents' training in Jolly Phonics was successfully concluded in March.  The parents who endeavored to come were very, very pleased that we set up this kind of training for them.  You see, the way we teach our children is not the way we were taught!  Thus, parents get very frustrated when their 3 year olds can't recite the alphabet!  And they are right!  We recited the alphabet when we were 3 years old!

But could we read at 4 years?  Hell No!  We started reading when we were 7 years old…in P.2!

So, what has changed?

The way we teach!

You see, we now teach our children to "sound" the letters before they learn to recite them in the alphabet.  This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we were teaching our parents.

We also demonstrated to them how they can make reading interesting to the children.  Many of them confessed that they had never considered showing pictures to their little ones during story time.  They had also never thought about making reading fun by making voice intonations, acting, etc!  Neither had they ever thought about stimulating their little ones' brains by asking them simple questions about the story after reading to them!

We were happy that a number of them showed up for the training.  However, a good number from all our branches did not come!

Whereas we appreciate the busy schedules our dear parents have, we also think that early planning is very important so that we make time for our children's scheduled school activities.

We hope that our parents who missed the training will at least purchase our DVDs and CDs that will guide them on how to "sound" the alphabet.

We continue to urge our parents to always try and make the time for our school programmes.  At worst, they can send responsible representatives who would ensure that the parents do not miss out on the most important aspects of their children's lives.

we finally moved!

if you left your parents' place and moved to your own, you will have an idea on what we have been through.  but even then, you may have moved with just one suitcase.  lucky you!

if you've ever moved offices or a whole residence, then bravo!  you know what i'm talking about.  better still, if you have ever moved a whole school (and i think you're very few out there…), you will most definitely be in position to empathize with us!

since november 2011, we have been packing up to leave our branch in bukoto!

believe me, you don't want to be where we have been!

class by class, room by room, we had to put down all our glamour, pack it up and await moving it to our new location.  a slow, painful job we had on our hands.

right now i'm too exhausted to paint the whole glum picture to you.  but, tired as i am, i can't help but thank God for having successfully taken us through this process.

now we can decently say, we have another new home on old kiira road. just pay us a visit and we will be happy to have a chat.

better still, bring those lovely children and we will do what we do best - give them the best start in life!
